using the darning foot

August 20, 2009

Since somebody asked me, here’s a quick little how to on attaching a darning foot to a Pfaff Hobby 1132

this is your regular presser foot

this is your regular presser foot

unscrew the shank and the foot from the machine

unscrew the shank and the foot from the machine

how it should look with the foot and shank off

how it should look with the foot and shank off

slide your darning foot on, aligning the slot on the side of the foot with the hole

slide your darning foot on, aligning the slot on the side of the foot with the hole

also I will mention here that the metal bar on the top of the darning foot needs to be on top of that black screw on the side that secures the needle in place.

now take the screw an tighten it really tight to attach the darning foot and make sure it doesnt fall off

and that’s it! hope that helps anyone starting out with free motion quilting.  One more thing, make sure the presser foot lever is down when you start quilting! Its hard to tell if it is or not, but if its not, your quilting will be all jacked up on the back, to use a technical term and its a real pain ripping out stitches!

    Wow, thank you so much!! This is quite amazingly useful, I have just successfully installed a foot to my machine… one which the mail order sewing machine parts store I bought it from had been totally unable to help me fit! I had no idea you had to take the shank off as well. Thank you so much! 🙂
